Scathach wakes up.
". . ."
Scathach straights up from the bed she's lying on and wordlessly looks around the room.
After an entire day of resting, she seems back at full strength.
"I lost."
She sounds a bit regretful.
"No, I'm not sad about it. You're all very strong. If things were different, I'd like to spar with you even more."
"...well, you're the victors. What will you have me do?"
She'd only promised them answers, but she's in no position to deny further demands.
"Your Servant took my weapon. He died a way no warrior would object to."
Scathach matter of factly states the course of events.
"As for my situation, I'm not sure where to start. It might be a long story."
.....and she's not the most wordy.
"Of course I'm not. I'm simply a Servant who was summoned here."
"I was summoned a few months ago. I was with a group of four Servants. Things weren't as bad back then so we thought if we defeat the giants and destroy the grail, this Singularity should close on its own."
"We narrowed things down to three calamities originating from Norse mythology that needed to be dealt with. One of us was a Norse warrior maiden, so..."
She's already feeling like she's not being brief enough.
"Well, we failed. Our idea was that destroying the grail would mean everything would disappear, so we simply left things as they were and headed north. Only the Norse Servant stayed behind to help the surviving humans."
"Revealing another heroes identity without their presence is shameful, but I have no right to complain."
She lost to them after all. ..But she still won't do it unless she's pressed again.
"The Norse warrior maiden identified them as Níðhöggr, Jörmungandr and Thrym. It was clear that Thrym had to be holding the grail, so we simply ignored the former two. They weren't nearly as strong as they should've been. It was only in the time following our defeat that their strength kept increasing."
"..We were simply beaten by the king of the giants. That's all there is to it."
"It's not that I gave up. After we lost, the giants tried to break us. I do not have the immortality of the land of shadows that the older me possesses, but I'm still too resistant to pain to give in to torture. But the Servants I fought Thrym with, they.. they weren't as resilient as me."
"..."
It's clear that that's what she's regretful about.
"My companions were a snow goddess of Celtic mythology and a girl I knew in life."
"No, it was my proposal. In exchange for fighting them, they wouldn't hurt them anymore."
"That girl, she can be distasteful, but she's actually very pure. I just couldn't stand to see her suffer. If you find that reason to despite me, I'll accept your hostility."
The sentimental look leaves Scathach's eyes again.
"Thrym has hundreds of giants at his command. Now that you've shown you can fight back, they'll act more aggressive. I haven't seen the grail myself yet, but I'm certain its in his possession. If you really were to defeat him, you should be able to take it."
"It's at the very tip, where parts of the ocean have frozen over. The only reason we were able to make it that far was because of the goddess."
She looks at Dominic.
"I'm not foolish. She's been serving under his command with me."
"Although now that I'm not there..."
"Rooster?"
Scathach thinks about what that means and then shakes her head.
"No, the Alter Ego has been with Thrym from the start. The girl I'm talking about is named Medb."
"Besides the Alter Ego and her, there's no other Servants serving him now that I'm no longer there."
Scathach's Spirit Origin is still damaged after resting. It might have been damaged this entire time they were fighting her.
"I already acknowledged my defeat. If you wish to make use of me, I have no means to say no."
Her eyes fill with resolve.
"That said, if I can help you save Medb and defeat Thrym once and for all, I'll support you with everything I have."
"A contract," Scathach acknowledges.
Before it can be formed, Tyonis can tell there is something already in place blocking a new contract from being formed.
@Tyonis Shiki"..I noticed it after I woke up."
Scathach walks over to Fie.
"Thank you for keeping me stable when I was resting. It doesn't sound like it was your intention, but you've already laid the foundation of a contract."
@Thicc|Fie/Ali/Ayu/Miyu/Nag/Mel"My shadows? Teaching something tied to my existence as Lily will be difficult, but..."
Scathach nods.
"Yes, I shall try my best to train you."
"Then the contract is complete."
Tyonis' room is spartan - with only a small workbench for weapon maintenance, a bed, and three wooden chairs surrounding the bench.
